This 12-disc retrospective box set celebrates the pioneering electronic composer Pauline Oliveros. Titled Reverberations: Tape & Electronic Music 1961-1970, it collects early and mostly unreleased works along with essays by Oliveros, Alex Chechile, Ramon Sender, David Bernstein, and Cory Arcangel.Oliveros, who celebrates her 80th birthday this year, helped pioneer the idea of incorporating natural ambient noise into live performance. Since the 1950s, she has been at the forefront of academic sound experimentation, incoprorating meditation and improvisation into her work.
